Women use the Cervix Softener Formula starting 4 weeks before the due date (taking ¼ teaspoon 3 times a day) to facilitate labor, lessen labor time, prevent tearing, minimize postpartum bleeding, prevent postpartum convulsions, and help those women deliver sooner who go considerably past their due date. Women who have a history of early delivery should start using the formula 3 weeks before the due date. Those who go over their due date can take a larger dose, starting after their due date. LOBELIA-CAYENNE TINCTURE, 2 FL OZ(Item #TCLC)The Lobelia-Cayenne Tincture contains more lobelia than cayenne. It is a combination of a relaxant and a stimulant. Some naturopaths, who travel considerable distances to attend births, use the following procedure with their pregnant clients at the onset of labor: (1) have their clients take about 1½ teaspoons to 1 tablespoon of lobelia and cayenne in juice, and (2) have them lie down. The action of the two herbs relaxes the body without sedating it. It tends to slow down the intensity of the contractions for a couple of hours and then pull the woman into good, effective, active labor. 19th century herbalists added lobelia and cayenne to hot red raspberry leaf tea during labor to make the labor more effective and quicker. It is a general body detoxification formula and is to be taken over a 5-day period as part of a general body detoxification program. An instruction sheet is included. Blue Cohosh Root Tincture, 1 oz(Item #TSBC)Include this in your midwivery/doula labor bag! Blue Cohosh is a uterine tonic and antispasmodic. During pregnancy, it is generally recommended not to take prior to 4 weeks before the due date. However, I have seen it used safely at earlier stages of pregnancy to stop contractions.
