Women have used the Cervix Softener Formula starting 4 weeks before the due date (taking ¼ teaspoon 3 times a day) to facilitate labor, lessen labor time, prevent tearing, minimize postpartum bleeding, prevent postpartum convulsions, and help those women deliver sooner who go considerably past their due date. Women who have a history of early delivery should start using the formula 3 weeks before the due date. Those who go over their due date can take a larger dose, starting after their due date.
While the Cervix Softener Formula is typically very expensive, we are selling it at a discount to make it more readily available to women who really need it. Lady Slipper is an essential part of this formula, because it is known to specifically soften the muscle of the internal cervical os (according to Dr. John R. Christopher in his book The School of Natural Healing). However, it's extremely difficult to get and very expensive. Over the years, Dianne has tried many logical substitutes for Lady Slipper, but none has worked as effectively.
Contraindications: Because of the Blue Cohosh Root in the Cervix Softener formula, it should not be taken by women who have high blood pressure or women who have excessive Braxton-Hicks contractions. Those women can use the Anti-Cramp Formula, along with Lady Slipper Tincture starting four weeks to their due date. Note that the Cervix Softener formula is stronger than the 5 week formula, so it should not be used earlier than 4 weeks before the due date. Also, to avoid precipitous births, this formula should not be taken by women who already deliver in under 3½ hours. Lobelia-Cayenne Tincture, 2 oz (Item #TCLC)
The Lobelia-Cayenne Tincture contains more lobelia than cayenne. It is a combination of a relaxant and a stimulant. Some naturopaths, who travel considerable distances to attend births, use the following procedure with their pregnant clients at the onset of labor: (1) have their clients take about 1½ teaspoons to 1 tablespoon of lobelia and cayenne in juice, and (2) have them lie down.
